Letter to The American Spectator

I rarely have the time or the inspiration to post twice in the same day. I am making an exception for this today. I receive a morning newsletter from The American Spectator on weekdays. This morning's edition contained the story of a young man at Central Davidson High School in Lexington, NC who was suspended for asking a teacher a question using the term "illegal alien". You can find the story about the young man here: Student suspended for using term ‘illegal alien’ in English class (carolinajournal.com)

I sent the editor of the AM Spectator a letter which I am copying below.

Daniel,

Your story about the Davidson County student barely scratched the surface of the actual situation there which is a microcosm of what is happening in America today. Lexington is about an hour's drive from where I live now.  I worked there in the late 1980's.

For most of the 20th Century, the textile industry dominated small towns in the South. Then our trade policies sent all of those jobs overseas. The furniture manufacturing business was king in Davidson County before the 1990's. But competition from cheap Chinese imports decimated the furniture manufacturing industry and put thousands of people out of work. This has been followed by the flood of illegal immigrants swarming over the southern part of our nation. The people who were able to get other jobs after the furniture business left then lost those jobs to cheaper illegal immigrant labor. We are sending our jobs overseas while allowing a flood of immigrants into the country for us to support. What sense does this make? The traditional culture in this part of the nation is being destroyed by the policies of the federal government. There are many among us who believe that this is not accidental.

The flood of immigrants in the large cities in the North is news because those of you living there have been sheltered by a government that you continue to vote into power. People who are residents of Texas will tell you the same thing.

After your Tampa trip to watch the ponies run, you should consider a visit to North Carolina. You need to see what long term exposure to illegal immigration looks like. I would be more than happy to take you on a quick tour of the area. We can go to Lexington in Davidson County, and you can see the situation firsthand. A trip to the Tuesday morning flea market in Lexington would be a learning experience for you. From there, we can go to nearby Chatham County and see what has happened to Siler City. Yes, Siler City is more than a city from the Andy Griffith Show. It now looks more like Mexico than North Carolina. The small-town culture of the South is being intentionally destroyed by federal government policies.

In the small towns of the South, the government is tearing down statues and renaming military bases, streets and buildings. They are bringing in illegal immigrants to flood the population. It sure looks like a conspiracy to a lot of people here.

There's an American Spectator article, if not a book, in the story here.

Thanks,

Gilbert Jones
