You can see Vietnam from Kiev

I received an email the other day from an acquaintance who asked, "How can you be opposed to helping Ukraine?" I responded, "It's pretty easy. I still read history books." "History is circular" is a phrase that turns up regularly on this blog. By now, even the slow among you should understand the meaning of that phrase.

I have read reports that claim the Russians have lost more than half a million soldiers killed in the Ukraine. Of course, estimates vary on this statistic. The number of Ukrainian deaths is estimated to be around 32,000. The "experts" tell us that the Russians have lost more than ten to sixteen times as many soldiers as have the Ukrainians. Put me down as being skeptical of these reported numbers.

Let's be honest here. We are really only getting reports from one side in this war. When did you last see a CNN reporter with the Russians? So, all of our information is coming from one side. Interestingly enough, that is the side that we are financing. Several days ago, the Russians broke through and captured a city that I cannot spell, but I believe that it starts with an "A". (Avdiivka) What happened? One day, the Russians are getting slaughtered and the next day they are kicking the Ukrainians out of a city. What is the truth?

In the early 1970's there was a Doonesbury cartoon series of strips about the war in Vietnam. In the start of one strip a US officer was on the radio. He reported that they had encountered the Viet Cong and defeated them. When asked about the number of enemy dead, he turned to a nearby soldier and asked, "What is today's date?" The soldier responded, "August 15th". The officer turned to the radio and reported "Fifteen enemy dead, Sir!".  And that's probably how we get the numbers of the Russian dead today in the Ukraine.

Retired US Army Lt. General Ben Hodges says about the Russians that "their navy sucks, their air force sucks, and they've lost half a million soldiers."  And yet today the Russian army is advancing. I guess that we should be grateful that such an astute observer as the general is retired. Maybe he is getting his data from Dr. Fauci? What is the General's plan for securing our southern border and getting the invaders out of the United States?

We don't hear from the military about our level of military supplies here at home while the Ukrainians go through our 155 MM howitzer rounds like Hunter Biden goes through crack. They are going through missiles like Joe Biden goes through double scoops of chocolate chip.  Are we keeping enough supplies to defend ourselves?  More than that, after firing all of those rounds, is there anything left to save in the Ukraine?

Chuck Schumer is pushing for more aid for Ukraine. According to Chuck's comments after a White House meeting about the budget, this aid for Ukraine is our biggest concern in America right now. As for me, I think that Schumer's ass sucks wind and he needs to look at our border and not Ukraine's. There are more illegals in the United States than there are Russians in the Ukraine. People in Schumer's party don't know the difference between a man and a woman. The children in our schools can't read, write, add or subtract, but Chuck the Schmuck is all in on Ukraine.  Why is the Ukraine so important? How many US politicians are getting a cut of the money we send the Ukraine? When the Dems and their Ice Cream Cone King get our border closed, we can talk about the Ukraine.

I think that we need to put our leaders into a twelve-step program for their addiction to foreign wars. It will start like this "I am Joe Biden and I love kickbacks from corrupt foreign governments." Maybe someone in the "news" media could do a story about Eisenhower warning us of the danger of the military-industrial complex? Maybe we can talk about Nikki Haley getting a seat on the Boeing Board of Directors after helping them in South Carolina? I just couldn't help that last shot.

Just like in Vietnam, we were winning until the media realized one day that we were losing. The media is starting to sense that the tide is shifting in the Ukraine. How long before they decide to tell the truth? On what network will the scales fall from their eyes first?

If we don't want young Americans to die in the Ukraine, let's get our stuff and go home. Let's have a plan and not duplicate that cluster in Afghanistan. The debacle in Afghanistan made the retreat from Saigon look like a media bailout from a Biden appearance at a Dairy Queen.

"That which deserves to live does."
