Is "Stupid Government" redundant??
Is the phrase "stupid government" redundant? Let's look at a few examples.
In Canton, Ohio, best known as the home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the City Council is considering an ordinance making not mowing your lawn a misdemeanor. Yes, a $250 fine and 30 days in jail for allowing your grass to be more than 8 inches high. Apparently the Green movement has not reached Canton. Canton must be the safest place in the country to live if this is the biggest threat facing the city.
In Tampa, Florida, the General Manager of WTVT Fox 13, was arrested and charged with lewd and lascivious behavior. Robert Linger was also charged with exposing a sexual organ. Linger and five other men were arrested at an adult bookstore by undercover officers monitoring the store for illegal activities. Allegedly, Mr. Linger and the other five men formed a circle around the undercover officers and began masturbating. The undercover officers allege that the six pointed their loaded weapons towards the officers. It must have been a slow day for crime in Tampa. Of course, Tampa used to be known as the Cigar City. Make of that what you will. The City of Tampa has been laying off employees due to a budget crunch. While not an expert on law enforcement, I will hazard a guess that the Circle Jerk Patrol is expendable and should be included in the next round of layoffs.
Closer to home, the Greensboro News and Record told us last week that the mayor does not believe that "the iron fist" is the right approach to the gang problem. Maybe she's right. Let's start by inviting all of the thugs in for cookies and milk. Then we can try the "midnight basketball" thing again.
Note to Barack Obama: None of this is about you.
