I Love Stupid People- The Bicycle Version
I was outside working in the yard when my wife returned home this evening. We stood there talking while she watered some newly planted green things.
As we were talking, I heard a bicyclist coming up the road. A few minutes before my wife arrived, I had heard and seen the same cyclist go down the road. He caught my attention because he was making a lot of noise. That noise was due to his not having a tire on the back wheel of the bicycle. As he passed, I told my wife, "That idiot doesn't have a tire on the back wheel". She replied, "He can't do that, it will break." "Yes, dear".
A few minutes later, I was still outside and heard the bicycle coming past our house again. The noise was even louder. As he passed our driveway, the noise stopped almost instantly. Naturally the bicycle stopped too. I looked out and could see the mangled and collapsed rear wheel of the bicycle. The cyclist dismounted from the bicycle and looked at the crumpled wheel. He pulled out his cell phone and punched away for a minute. Then he looked at the rear wheel again, then just turned and started pushing the bicycle down the street.
The young man appeared to be in his teens. I realize that young people today lack the mechanical knowledge needs that we had when I was that age. Surely, he must know that one needs to put a tire on a bicycle wheel for it to work. Then again, he just demonstrated that he did not understand that.
What will happen to this young man? Career politician? Democratic Party Chairman? I am guessing that their is a car chase in his future. He will keep driving even after he hits the "stop sticks" the police have put out. He will be trying to escape with four flat tires at about fifteen miles per hour. It will work about as well as his bicycle did today. Good luck, Gomer !!
