Post Stupor Bowl Monday Medley

There are rumors that there was a "musical performance" surrounded by a pro football game yesterday. Mercifully, there were some American pickers reruns on at the same time. Bad Bunny can't hold a candle to Mike, Franke and Danielle. There are those who believe that 'Tattoo Queen" Danielle is actually Bad Bunny in drag. It doesn't really matter; I nodded off after about ten minutes.

I am not going to bother to trash the Stupor Bowl, but when one team goes scoreless for the first three quarters, it probably was not a great game. But I would have had to watch it to know.

This morning on the news, the leftists were attacking Turning Point USA's alternative halftime show for those who didn't want to listen Bed Bunny serenade the nation in Spanish. Here's something that all of the TPUSA critics failed to acknowledge; if five to seven million people watched the TPUSA show, that's five million people who weren't watching the ads of the Super Bowl advertisers. It's all about money.

I am not a professional law enforcement officer, but something in the whole kidnapping of Nancy Guthrie just doesn't make sense. I am not saying that this Jussie Smollett style crazy, but there is just something that is missing.  I can only assume that this is kidnapping in the age of the Internet. Just a passing thought but, that sheriff in Pima County should give thought to some other line of work.

What kind of moron kidnaps an 84-year-old woman with a pacemaker and heart issues? I doubt that you can keep them alive long enough to get the ransom paid. There had to be at least two people involved in the kidnapping. I am trying to picture two guys sitting around talking and one says, "Let's kidnap Nancy Guthrie." I just don't understand it!

Of course, as a matter of full disclosure, until last Monday I had never heard of Savannah Guthrie. The last time that I watched the Today show, Hugh Downs and Barbara Walters were hosting the program. I think that Joe Garagiola was a part of that day's show as well.

Commie Mamdani is doing exactly what anybody with half a brain would expect in New York City. The streets and sidewalks are blocked with snow; ice and the mountains of trash have not been picked up. But the good news is that the street in front of the mayor's house, Gracie Mansion, is spotless. Policies for thee, but not for me.

The polls are all telling us that Democrats are going to sweep the elections in November. In February of 2024, the polls showed that Joe Biden would be re-elected and that Donald Trump would be in prison. The polls may be right, but I am going to go vote in November anyway.

My beloved and I attended the 27th Annual Civil War Symposium presented free by Longwood University and the National Park Service in Farmville, Virginia on Saturday. It's great, you just have to be ready for the occasional Yankee author who tries to sneak in some erroneous opinions. My wife is no longer shocked when they ask for questions and my hand goes up. I asked one question but couldn't get anyone to call on me on a later presentation. I think that I will get one of those orange flags that the flagmen use on the highways and take that next year to get noticed for questions.

Finally, my wife likes the seminar but loves the place where we spend Saturday night before returning home on Sunday. We stay at the North Creek Ridge B&B in Appomattox. Jim and Holly own the B&B and are very hospitable. It's a beautiful building that they built as a B&B. The rooms are comfortable and each has a different theme. There's a lot of Civil War art and other art all over the walls. In the bathroom of our favorite room, there's an original Reagan Conroy drawing. Breakfast is great! It's not donuts and a paper cup of coffee. On this visit, breakfast was waffles, maple flavored link sausages and scrambled eggs.  Holly is a great cook and that's coming from a fat guy who spent his life in the restaurant business. The B&B costs about the same as the Super 8 Motel and breakfast at Hardee's. If you are headed that way, check with them for availability.
