Lincoln on Suicide??
Speaking to the Young Men's Lyceum of Springfield on January 27, 1838, Abraham Lincoln said this:
"At what point shall we expect the approach of danger? By what means shall we fortify against it?-- Shall we expect some transatlantic military giant, to step the Ocean, and crush us at a blow? Never!--All the armies of Europe, Asia and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest; with a Buonaparte for a commander, could not by force, take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge, in a trial of a thousand years."
"At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide."
Today in the United States, there is an insurrection happening in Minnesota. The State of Minnesota through their Governor and Attorney-General and the Minneapolis Mayor are proclaiming that Federal law should not be enforced in Minnesota. Apparently, they believe that Minnesota possesses some level of insight and intelligence unknown in the other 49 states.
When the State of Arkansas refused to desegregate Little Rock High School, Eisenhower sent units of the 101st Airborne to Little Rock and he federalized the Arkansas National Guard. It didn't take long to restore order.
It is time for Donald Trump to invoke the Insurrection Act and send troops to Minneapolis. It's not enough to send the suggested 1500 soldiers to the city. Trump needs to commit overwhelming force to Minneapolis. He also needs to federalize the Minnesota National Guard to help with the situation. If the Governor or others interfere, they need to be arrested and charged.
I am tired of hearing about illegal immigrants. Minnesota supports illegal immigrants. States that choose to ignore federal law need to be brought into line with the rest of us. The President needs to do whatever it takes.
However, I must admit that I am fascinated by the liberal states that have taken up the banner of "states' rights" that was discredited by the Civil War. New York, Illinois, California, Oregon, Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, Minnesota and others all opposed the South's claim of "States' Rights" in regard to slavery. Today, they all embrace the right of states to decide what they want to do about illegal immigrants and federal law. Flip, Flop.
Let's face it. Liberals love illegals like a fat kid loves candy. They lust for a lower class that they "can help". Let's be honest. It's the liberal search for cheap labor. No liberal tells you they want illegals to be doctors or lawyers. They just want their crops picked, their houses cleaned and the yards mowed. Why can't they just come clean about their reasons for wanting slave labor?
