McCarthy vs Epstein

All you really need to know about "The View" is that it is part of ABC News. They owe their jobs to Donald Trump. He's the only thing that keeps retards watching "The View". Every weekday at 11:00 AM ET, Barbara Walters rolls over in her grave at the sight of what the show she created has become

Meanwhile, on The Five on Fox News Channel, Jessica Tarlov continues her one-woman campaign to prove that all of those racist and sexist remarks about Jewish women are actually true. I have solved that problem by switching to American Picker reruns if Jessica is on The Five.

Former Prince Andrew was arrested in England on Thursday. They believe that he transmitted confidential information and trade secrets to Epstein. I am not sure that Andrew is that smart.

If you guessed by now that I watched too much television news this week, you are correct. You can't turn on the television, the radio or the Internet without hearing about Jeffrey Epstein.

I think that Jeffrey Epstein was a a world class pervert who hurt a lot of people. Having said that, I am not sure that he killed himself. There are more unanswered questions about that than there are answered questions. The more times that the government assures us that Epstein killed himself, the fewer believers they have. Maybe we need to start over with that investigation.

What's the worst thing about the whole Jeffrey Epstein story? We have returned to the Joe McCarthy days of guilt by association. News sources and "leaders" are fighting to be the new Tail Gunner Joe McCarthy. Your name on a piece of paper with Epstein's name on it is the reputational kiss of death.

A lot of the Epstein material are things that have not actually been legally verified. We are talking about millions of documents. I am fascinated by the fact that when the government released a bunch of documents about Martin Luther King, people were screaming that not everything had been verified. When they released the same kind of documents about Epstein, the media is absolutely certain that they are nothing but facts.

People are having to quit their jobs because their names have been linked to Epstein. A lot of people had Epstein as their investment advisor. Who has ever asked their investment guy, "Do you like young girls?" To be honest, as long as they are doing well with their investments, does anyone care who their broker screws? Of course, that's as long as they aren't the ones being screwed.

Allow me to share my personal viewpoint on this issue. I spent more than fifty years in the restaurant business. I have interacted with thousands of employees over that time. I have also interacted with millions of customers. There were a bunch of folks in that crowd who had criminal records or were about to have criminal records. Working in Tampa, I had lots of customers who were reputed to be members of organized crime. I don't recall ever asking any customer for pointers on how to knock off a competitor.

NEWS FLASH!! Knowing a criminal does not make you a criminal. Bonus claim, knowing a college professor does not make you any smarter. However, Americans and particularly those in power are determined to prove that Sen. Joe McCarthy was right with his guilt by association argument. If we jail everyone who knows a criminal, the streets will be empty. If you want to tell me that the legal system is flawless, let's talk about Democratic Attorneys-General and their lust for Donald Trump.

Over a fifty-year period, I hired all classes of people to work for me. I hired people who were in prison and were on the work release program. There's a great benefit to that. The prison made sure that those guys were at work every day on time. I hired lots of people who had served time in prison or had criminal records. If we don't give those people an opportunity to succeed, they are going to fail and go back to committing crimes. If you don't want to give people a chance to change their lives, should we just go ahead and kill them after they finish their sentence?

Yes, I have hired robbers, burglars, embezzlers, drug dealers, drug addicts, drunks, sex offenders and speeders. Hiring these people does not mean that I am one of them. It means that I needed employees and they needed a job. The most important thing is to make sure that their job function does not present an opportunity for them to return to the judicial system.  For example, you don't put an embezzler on the cash register. I wasn't on a mission to change society; I was on a mission to staff the restaurant. It's kind of like the old story about punishing adulterers. If we cut out all of their tongues, it's going to be a really quiet world.

Let's put guilt by association and Joe McCarthy back in the rear-view mirror.
