Friday Follies

The highlight of the GOP debate had to be when Vivek Ramaswamy asked why the RNC had the debate on NBC. He pointed out that the one moderator, Kristen Welker, had been pushing the Russian Collusion story for years. He gave her the chance to respond about the veracity of the collusion story and she smiled. Why do Republicans think that liberals in the media will one day wake up and treat conservatives fairly?

I just watched a few highlights of the debate. My life is not so bad that I needed to watch the debate to send me over the edge. I did see in the highlights that crazy Aunt Nikki Haley called Ramaswamy "scum". I will mail her one of my extra copies of Carnegie's book "How to win friends and influence people". She obviously has never read it.

Chris Christie made his last public appearance before his scheduled appearance in the sky over New York in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. How many handlers does a blimp that size need?

I like Ron DeSantis. I believe that he is really a bright guy. I think that he would do a great job as President. The problem is how to get a guy with no personality elected President.

In court in New York today, Judge Engoron threatened to jail anyone who used the phrase, "Keep your shirt on!"

Democrats are just wild about abortions. They don't want any restrictions. Maybe that is why they have failed to speak up about Hamas killing Israeli babies.

The "news" is awash with stories about how American voters all support abortion rights. First, that's not exactly true. Second, if voters think that the biggest issue facing this nation is the right to kill the unborn, we need to go back to literacy tests before being allowed to vote.

I send a note to The American Spectator this morning with some comments on a story about abortions. I pointed out that once the public accepted killing the unborn, how long will it be before they start talking about killing the old people?

If they indict Trump again, they may as well go ahead and put his picture back up in the Oval Office.

I just saw it as I wrote this swill, but there was a great comment from Ramaswamy about who the Democrats are going to run for President in 2024. He said that they just need to go ahead and admit that it won't be Biden. He thinks it will be Newsome or Michelle Obama or some other Communist.

New York City has given up on using some large electric trucks they had purchased for snow removal. It seems that the use for snow removal causes them to lose power quickly. Maybe if they mounted one of those huge wind turbines that they have removed from offshore New Jersey, the truck might have enough to power a plow.

The founder and CEO of Rivian said that "buying a car with an internal combustion engine today is like building a horse barn in 1910".  There are a couple of issues here. First, his vehicles are high priced shit. A friend's son has one of their trucks. On US 27 in Georgia, it went into some kind of trouble mode and would not let him drive at more than 18 MPH. Have you been on US 27? Anyway, his son drove it home and called the dealer the next day to have them come get it and repair it. I guess after spending that much on the truck, he couldn't afford a AAA membership?

Here's a history lesson for CEO Scaringe of Rivian. Automobiles started being commercially produced in the early 1900's. Some were gas, some were electric, and some were steam powered. In fact, the first electric vehicle came out in 1890. In 1908, Henry Ford rolled out the Model T and car production was off and running. In 1918, the United States started shipping troops to Europe for WW1. Before the war had ended, the United States had shipped more than 60,000 wagons to Europe for the Army's use. We also shipped an appropriate number of horses and mules there to pull the wagons. Why? Because the trucks available could not move the amount of material that the Army needed. All of the other nations also used wagons. The French and the British also purchased large numbers of horses and mules here in America to ship to Europe to pull their wagons. This was 28 years after the first electric car had been built. Thank God that somebody smarter than the Rivian CEO built horse barns after 1910.

Two other notes. First, my grandparents eloped in a horse and buggy in 1919 in Lancaster, SC. They had not received the memo from Rivian. Second, if I had been my friend's son with the Rivian that would not work right, I would have found a farmer with a mule to pull that truck to the dealership. I would have also notified every media outlet in the universe about the mule's route.

Let's go Brandon!!
