L. Louise Lucas, Loser-at-Large??
Virginia State Senator L. Louise Lucas surrendered this morning to federal authorities in Norfolk, Virginia. A federal grand jury returned the indictment last week.
This from CBS News, "According to a 45-page indictment filed in the Eastern District of Virginia, Lucas and six other co-defendants are charged with conspiring to distribute and possess marijuana, conspiring to launder money, laundering money and committing bribery by distributing large quantities of illegal marijuana under the auspices of her legal medical cannabis business."
Virginia Governor Abigail Spam-burger criticized the DOJ for releasing the indictments just before the elections. Attorney General Todd Blanche pointed out that Virginia is not electing state officials this year, they did that last year. He also said that the 60-day-rule is an unwritten protocol and is not in the DOJ Policy Manual.
So, in Spam-Burger world you can't arrest anyone in an election year. Of course, that rule obviously only applies to Democrats, you can drag a former Republican President into a New York City courtroom at any time. For Democrats to bitch about Republicans prosecuting Democrats is a comedy from the DC Theater of the Absurd. Blanche also pointed out that the investigation started several years ago in a different administration.
Attorney General Todd Blanche pointed out the fallacies of both Senator Lucas' and Governor Spam-Burger's comments. To his credit, Blanche is a much more restrained man than I am. If Spam-Burger had said that to me, my response would have been a simple, but eloquent, "You're shitting me, right?"
Senator Lucas, of course, blames this all on Jim Crow laws. I realize that she is 82, but can someone tell her that the Jim Crow laws are gone with the wind. An 82-year-old black female is the Speaker Pro Tempore of the Virginia legislature, and she is complaining about Jim Crow. She is actually responsible for making the laws. This is the kind of leftist, Communist, racist thinking that you can't even make up today. She has been in the state legislature since 1991. This is the best argument for term limits that I have heard this month.
I am delighted that Senator Lucas did not try to take all of the graft and corruption money by herself. She has six co-defendants, including her two daughters and a grandson. There may be Italians and Sicilians somewhere who are following this story and thinking, "Why didn't we do that?"
The charges show that Lucas directed the purchase and sale of over 100 kilograms of illegal marijuana. The motivational posters on her pot shop walls must read, "Go Big or Go Home!!"
Just to demonstrate that I am not just now ranting about the disgraceful Sen. Lucas, I posted about Sen. Lucas and her "pot plantation" on May 7, May 11, and May 15 on this blog. Here's three links:
