Mamdani's Meats and Things??
There's a little meat market in Reidsville, North Carolina called Richard's Meats and Things. If the name works in Reidsville, will it work in New York City? Read it aloud, "Mamdani's Meats and Things".
Zero Mamdani announced that a second city owned grocery store will open in 2027. In true government style, the "second" store will open before the "first". Yes, no one in government did well in math. "And the last shall be first." Don't tell Zero Mamdani where that came from.
Why does a guy who has never even run a lemonade stand think that he should lead the way in opening city owned grocery stores? Zero Mamdani acts like this is a new idea despite the fact that it has been tried in other cities and has succeeded exactly zero times. What makes Zero think that it will work now?
How are business owners in Mamdani City going to feel about subsidizing their competition with their tax dollars? How much is the city willing to lose every year before they abandon Mamdani's Meats and Things?
How many minutes after they open will the first shoplifter be caught? Are they going to prosecute? Or are they just going to allow people to steal, each according to his need? Will there be pictures of Karl Marx and Barack Obama on the walls in the foreign foods section? Is there anything that is even foreign in Mamdani City?
Back to the grocery business. Does Zero have any concept of how thin that the profit margins are in the grocery business? People who have spent their lives in the grocery business struggle to make a profit. How many millions is the Mamdani Administration willing to commit to spend before admitting failure?
Will the same government that can't keep people safe on the streets be able to protect their health with proper handling of the food supply? As the government routinely exempts themselves from regulations, are they going to obey food safety handling regulations at Mamdani's Meats and Things?
What government agency is famous for their great service and high-quality consumer products? Yes, I can wait for a while for an answer. But I am over seventy, so I am not actually expecting an answer before checkout time arrives.
If you hate going to the grocery store now, you ain't seen nothing yet!!
By now, even the slow among you are thinking, is this post just a series of questions? Does the sun rise in the east? I just threw that one in to piss you off. The answer is simple. The Mamdani Meats and Things, the city owned grocery stores in Mamdani City are going to fail. Their losses will be in the millions of dollars a month. They will last until a change in administrations provides someone willing to admit the failure and close them down.
Let's face it, no successful business is using a government agency as their model to follow. The folks sending rockets into space now are not repeating the failures of NASA.
Government owned grocery stores are just an extension of other failed government programs. Say adios and au revoir to Mamdani's Meats and Things.
