The Wit and Wisdom of Wednesday

Chief Justice Roberts is warning against personal attacks on judges.  He might want to warn judges about personal attacks on Donald Trump. Roberts said that impeaching judges is not the answer. Sorry John, but impeachment is the only available answer. Who wants to live in a nation run by unelected judges who are not held responsible for their actions? Roberts may want to call in Judges Bozo Boasberg and Tonya Slutkan from the DC Circuit in for a conference about Trump.

The percentage of Jesus's twelve disciples who didn't make the grade is higher than the percentage of federal judges who have been impeached and removed. What's wrong with that picture?

If you are questioning my above statement, here are a few facts. There have been 4351 appointments as federal judges. There have been 15 impeached and of those 8 were convicted and removed. That means that while one out of twelve disciples failed and was removed, only one of every 544 judges fails and is removed.

We could end a lot of these problems with judges, representatives and senators by simply eliminating pensions. Why are we rewarding people for a lifetime spent making our lives miserable? Isn't it bad enough that we are sitting quietly as people like Clinton, Biden and Obama all entered the White House as paupers and left as multi-millionaires? Compare any of their homes now to where Harry Truman lived after his presidency ended.

As TSA employees are not showing up for work and quitting in droves, Democratic Senators are asking their staff members to research why TSA employees won't show up when they are not getting paid. Yes, Senators have connections to the real world that are more than a little tenuous.

It is painfully (for some) obvious that our NATO allies are like Facebook friends. If you don't understand this, the next time that you have a flat tire, post it on Facebook. See who gets there first, the Facebook friend or the truck driver just trying to help someone.

Our NATO allies and others "allies" like Japan, all get more of their oil shipped through the Strait of Hormuz than we do. So naturally, none of them want to help us keep the strait open for oil shipments. Screw them! When the lights go out in Europe, China and Japan, they will figure out what they need to do.

If Trump won't take us out of NATO, I won't vote for him for President again. If you don't get the humor there, get out your pocket copy of the Constitution. Or put up a "Trump 2028" sign and wait for your Democrat neighbors to explain it to you.

Here's my weekly plea to bring democracy to the United States Senate and end the filibuster. While they are at it, end the "blue slip" system on nominees for judges and US Attorneys. The idea that the United States Senate is some kind model system of democracy is more than 230 years out of date.

We are closing in on the 170th anniversary of Sen. Charles Sumner of Massachusetts being beaten with a cane by Rep, Preston Brooks on the floor of the Senate. If Rep. Brooks ever returns to life on the floor of the Senate; can someone please direct him to Senator Thom Tillis's seat?

In starting to write the previous item, I could not remember Senator Sumner's first name, so I looked it up. The AI summary that popped up said that Sumner suffered from head trauma and PTSD. I believe the "head injuries", but to claim that he suffered from PTSD 170 years later, strikes me as something that doesn't meet the threshold for "facts".  Yes, AI has the same bias as all of the other research tools.

Don't get me wrong!! I don't think that all of the incompetent people are federal officials. The sheriff in Arizona handling the Nancy Guthrie case is setting a new standard for incompetence. How long before he wins a seat in the Senate??
