Random Thoughts on Thursday

I am not much of a sports fan, but soccer is a sport that needs a shot clock.

The World Cup will be played in the United Staes in 2026. Years ago, someone wrote "Horse racing may be the sport of kings, but soccer spectating is the sport of coroners." Yes, soccer is the only sport where they report the body count among the spectators.

Democrats and other assorted jackasses are now claiming that Donald Trump can control the weather. They are blaming Trump for the catastrophe in Texas over the weekend. Who is to blame for all of the previous floods?

Texas is going to end up building some kind of warning system for these kinds of floods. One of the things that I keep hearing is that the cellular service is bad in that area. First, we had life before cell phones. Second, if there is a history of flash floods, why do we still build in flood-prone areas? Will cellular service stop flooding?

You can train and condition a dog to stay in the yard with an underground electrical line and a special collar. Should we use a similar system on people who want to live on the water?

We need to have a class in elementary school and teach our children about a simple concept called "Assumption of Risk." This would help us reduce the incredible cost to the government stupid human tricks.

I applaud Hakeem Jeffries for doubling down in his attempt to prove that all Democrats are dumbasses. Can he just take a day off and let us rest once in a while?

I thought that Rosie O'Donnell moved to Ireland to get away from Donald Trump. She's addicted. She can't give up talking about him every day. Trump should announce that we are going to purchase and annex Ireland. If not that, he should just buy the property next door to Rosie.

We are closing in on the twentieth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina in August. My wife's mother and sister and her family lived near Baton Rouge. My wife had gone down there for a visit a week before the hurricane hit and then couldn't get an early flight out. They rode out the storm with minimal damage. My wife doesn't go to Louisiana anymore during hurricane season.

The Dallas Cowboys, the Houston Texans and the National Football League each donated half a million dollars to relief efforts in Texas. Many have criticized these three groups for what looks like "thriftiness". I think that "tight" or "cheap" might be more accurate.

Meanwhile, yesterday Todd Graves donated $1 million to the American Red Cross to be used in the Texas disaster. Todd is the CEO and founder of Raising Cane's restaurants. Raising Cane's is the king of chicken tenders! If we get within about an hour's drive of a Cane's, we go there. Don't bother going there for a burger, fish, steak or a sub. They are in the chicken tender business. That's it!!
