Vietnam Era M101A1 Trailer

One of the most frequently searched terms that brings people to my blog is "M101A1 trailer". I have mentioned mine a couple of times here. I am now selling my M101A1 trailer. I will be at the Charlotte Autofair next week and will have it there for sale. I am adding some pictures so you can see it. I have had it for 4 or 5 years and am ready to let it go. The price is a firm $400. Check around, in any condition it's a deal.

Here's the bad points. The landing leg is missing. It was missing when I bought it from the government and I haven't replaced it. I have put a trailer jack up there to cover for it. There are several rust spots. The tailgate is slightly bent, it takes a little pressure to close it. One of the parking brake cables is broken. I have tacked a set of trailer lights on it to use when towing it. The original lights are still in place. The wood stakes are in mediocre to rotten condition. The front has a couple of bent spots in the top rail. It was painted with a thin layer of desert tan and that is peeling off now. You can see all of this in the pictures.

Here are the good points. It's a 1968 model. It pulls well. The tires are like new. They are Cooper Discoverer A/T. They evidently put them on the trailer shortly before surplussing it. When I bought it, it had just returned from Iraq, via a port in Kuwait. As written on the side, it came to Fort Bragg via rail. The bed has several bullet holes in the bottom. My military expert told me that it appeared to have turned over and been used for cover.

The better points. I have a North Carolina title for it. It you have ever tried to get a title on a vehicle purchased from the government, you can appreciate this. I am also including the pintle hook adapter that will fit your receiver hitch.

I will be at the Charlotte Autofair April 8-10. I am in the Green Field spaces UG35-38. Come see it! If you are interested but can't come to Charlotte, you can e-mail me at gunking@bellsouth.net if you need more info.
